Redevelopment + Site changes
Hey guys,
Well, it's been a fairly slow few months as you've probably noticed. Manux is back from vacation and ready to pump some heat into the project with the staff!
But rest assured, we are still in business. We're going to restart developing using a better platform and are aiming with a new vision. Nifty features will include 720p support, dynamic updating, larger sprites, a new GUI and much more.
Here's a little preview of the new GUI for your viewing pleasure (the kanji at the top left means royal by the way!):
We're also currently in the process of redeveloping the main site + forums. So hang in there!
What’s happening now?
Hi guise,
Well you've probably noticed the lack of updates recently...
To answer a few questions:
-No we're not dead.
-No we haven't failed, we have a working client/server (just we do not feel it's ready).
-I did not quit, and neither did Manux and other vital staff (in fact we're excited more than ever).
Well that aside, Manux has been on vacation for the past few weeks and is due to return quite soon. We've decided the best possible action now is to redevelop with a new concept in mind. Don't worry, we're aren't restarting. It's more like a rejuvenation with what we've learned.
We're also focusing on a php based user lookup/profiles to further enhance the experience (so expect a brand new website).
We're keeping quite a few things secret and under tight wraps for now. But here's a little hint of where we're planning on going:

More to come sooner than you think.....
-Cheers, and if you need to reach me PM or e-mail admin@rakuhana.org
Night/Day System, Further NPC, THEME SONG??
Hey guys!
Just a quick little update of what's happening!
Manux has amazingly coded in a night/day system (I've also managed to get the game working on Windows 7 with a little trick which we'll fix before a public release.):
Currently we're working on getting some game world basics done to craft it. We have a map that Stava made. I'll be tweaking it and discussing with the other members of how to balance it between Royals and Pirates.
Manux is also working on the NPC/Quest system, it's very close to completion. So it looks like things are flying now, like 700 km/h (434.95 mph for my American friends
).
Another bit of nice news is some PSO music that Manux has created:

By the way, we are still searching for someone interested in coding a Map Editor, along with other tools!
~Cheers!
Database, NPCs, Registration Portal!
Hey guys!
We've been working on the server for the past few weeks and have made leaps and heaps of progress. Every day we're closer to a public release, and things are looking pretty exciting.
The biggest piece of News is probably the database and registration system. Everything concerning your account will be handled on the website rather than in-game. This let's us setup user profiles online, allow people to lookup theirs and others' stats, and also do many other cool things.
Here's a little sample of the unfinished registration portal (Don't bother registering yet though, we're still changing the database structure daily and the system isn't finished!):

Another big piece of news is the addition of NPCs in-game. Manux has been coding in the NPC system and it's almost near completion. Once it's finished it will be time to start things like quests, mapping, and much more!
Here's a little Screenie of one of stava's NPCs in the game (We also have hair now!):

We have a working server!
Hi guys, I'm quite sorry for the lack of updates. It's been a few weeks of everyone on the team having finals and whatnot. But rest assured, we are working on bringing PSO onto its feet!
Manux has just finished writing a working server, and Austin and I have been testing it with him for the last few hours. Here's a little youtube video of us trolling, be sure to watch in HD!
Here's a nice bonus from Manux showing us the server in action:

We'll allow the team to test it for any bugs in the next week or two, with a public demo shortly after that. By then we should have more of the GUI elements and Chat working.
Graphics-wise, the art team has animated and created a few more NPCs, as well as a wide array of game-art. Hopefully we'll be able to implement it very very soon!
-Cheers
Oh and one more thing, I added the youtube BBCODE function, so knock yourselves out!
